With hearts heavy in sorrow yet overflowing with gratitude for a life richly lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Bhikhiben Mohanbhai Patel on June 7, 2026, at her home in Carmel, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family. Bhikhiben was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the cherished matriarch of our family.

Bhikhiben was born on July 27, 1940, in the beautiful village of Simalgaam, India. She was born into a humble home, graced by a magnificent gulmohar tree in the front yard. She was the daughter of two deeply loving and devout parents, Ranchodbhai and Gulabben, who instilled in her a profound faith in God and an unwavering devotion to family.

She grew up in a lively household with six brothers—Dineshbhai, Somchandbhai, Naginbhai, Ishwerbhai, Kantubhai, and Rameshbhai—and two sisters, Manjuben and Savitaben. It was a home filled with love, laughter, and strong values. The lessons she learned in her childhood—faith, humility, service, and devotion to family—became the guiding principles of her life and were lovingly passed down through multiple generations.

Bhikhiben shared a lifelong partnership with her beloved husband, Mohanbhai. They were married on June 1, 1959, when she moved to his family home in the village of Malekpore. With her bright spirit, sweet laughter, and infectious joy, she quickly won the hearts of her new family and became a beloved member of both the household and the community.

In January 1978, Bhikhiben and Mohanbhai embarked on a new chapter when they immigrated to the United States with their children. In Baltimore, she balanced her work as a seamstress in a swimsuit factory with the tireless care of her family. Later, in Mena, Arkansas, she and Mohanbhai welcomed guests into their first motel, The Hitching Post Motel, while embracing the joys of an expanding family, including sons-in-law and the arrival of their first grandchildren.

Together, they built a family grounded in love, perseverance, faith, and cherished traditions. As a devoted mother to Anju, Vina, and Yagnesh, she instilled the values of family, service, and unwavering determination. Her greatest joy came from witnessing the happiness and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, delighting in every milestone and treasured moment.

Bhikhiben's journey continued in Davenport, Iowa, and ultimately to Indianapolis in 1995, where she found a home for the final chapters of her life. There, she embraced her passion for gardening, deepened her spiritual devotion, and shared a home filled with love alongside her youngest three grandchildren. Her life radiated warmth and purpose, rooted in faith, family, and the quiet beauty of daily devotion.

Her enduring legacy lives on through her children, Anjana, Vina, and Yagnesh; grandchildren, Sajni, Ravi, Visad, Jai, Raj, Manali, Serena, and Purav; and her great-grandchildren, Liya, Rishi, Nara, Niam, Ayan, Jiya, Xenia, and Bodhi—each of whom brought her immeasurable joy. Her love was boundless, her presence a source of comfort, wisdom, and strength, and her home a place where everyone felt welcomed and cherished.

Those fortunate enough to know Bhikhiben will remember her gentle spirit, radiant kindness, deep piety, and quiet strength. She carried herself with grace and humility, offered love without expectation, and built a foundation of faith and generosity that will guide her family for generations to come.

Though her earthly journey has ended, the lessons she imparted and the love she shared will endure in every heart she touched. Her memory is a blessing, her legacy an inspiration, and her life a testament to the power of family, devotion, and unconditional love.
