Barbara Ashley Dye

Indianapolis

90, Indianapolis, passed Monday, March 25, 2024. She was born in Union City, Indiana to the late Leland and Lucille (Kerns) Ashley, September 12, 1933.  After graduating from Union City High School (1951) & a week at the Miami – Jacobs business school in Dayton, Barbara attended Ball State Teachers College, one & a half years.   June 28, 1953, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Roger Dye, also of Union City.  

 She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.  She was also a member of Kappa Kappa Sigma, Alpha Eta,  a philanthropy sorority which benefits the families of Pike Township,  The fabulous sisters of Kappa Kappa Sigma, were her friends for almost sixty years and sustained her while she was in the hospital since December 20. 

 She loved reading & classical music. She loved feeding and watching birds in her beautiful four acre, forest backyard.   She especially loved watching the woods come to life, each and every spring. 

 She is survived by her children, Julia Dye Congdon, Zionsville & Ken R. Dye, Chicago, and two beautiful  granddaughters, Emma Ashley Congdon, and Sophia Carroll Congdon. 

There will be a Celebration of Life service for Barbara, Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Robin Run’s Main Street Lounge beginning at 1:00 PM.  Please bring your favorite memories of Barbara to share with her family and each other,   Saturday, June 29, 11:30 AM,  there will be an interment at the Union City cemetery, followed by a 1:00 luncheon of Barbara‘s favorites at Wesley United Methodist Church. 

 Her family would  like to thank the caring and skillful doctors, nurses, CNA’s, at IU Methodist, St Vincent Ascension, Spring Mill Meadows, and Robin Run Healthcare Center for their care of Barbara during her illness.  You are the very best.  THANK YOU!!!
