Barbara was born in Indianapolis to Herbert and Clara Beatrice Ristow and was a graduate of Ben Davis High School.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Barbara passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 12, 2021.  She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Donald Akers; sons, John R. (Deborah) McClain and Michael A. McClain; four step-children and their spouses; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, extended family and friends; and all that Barbara loved.

Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Timothy M. McClain; and granddaughter Crystal McClain.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 East Temperance Street, Ellettsville, IN 47429 on Saturday, July 17th at 11 AM.
