Alice E. (Hammerschmidt) Basham

Alice E. Basham,

77, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away December 13, 2022.  She was born in Indianapolis on August 1, 1945 to the late Heinz and Ruth Hammerschmidt.  Alice began working for Tynan Industrial Trucks for 12 years before working as a cook at the Hasten Hebrew Academy. She later served as a cafeteria clerk for Indianapolis Public Schools for ten years.

Alice was also a life member of VFW Auxiliary and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose. She was a very loving, caring, and thoughtful person. Alice cherished time spent with her family and her many lifelong friends.

She is survived by her children, Dawn (Steve) Freedenberg and Edward (Mary) Basham; five grandchildren, Klrissa (Aaron) Bender, Gabrielle Basham, Sabrina Basham, Lakota Freedenberg, and Kayla Cohen; two great-grandchildren; and grandpups, Chewy and Agness.

Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Philip Basham; and sister, Dorothy Albert.

Services will be held at Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary, 11411 North Michigan Road, on Monday, December 19th at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
