Gladys Marie Justo Paikos,
Beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and granddaughter passed away on November 15, 2019 after a long illness.
Gladys was born in Cordon, Isabela Philippines on November 10, 1969. Her early childhood was harsh and without modern conveniences we now take for granted such as electricity and in-house bathrooms. However, through hard work and perseverance she exceeded expectations and graduated as salutatorian in her senior high school class and earned an accounting degree from De La Salle University in Manila. She passed the CPA exam and worked three years as an auditor at a multinational CPA firm, also in Manila. Later, Gladys emigrated to Chicago, after she was granted an H-1B work visa and was employed as a CPA for eight years. She was proud to have emigrated to U.S. entirely on her own merits and was beaming with joy the day she was sworn as U.S. citizen.
Gladys became a full-time mother/homemaker to care for her three children until all three entered school. She had a very adventurous, charitable and entrepreneurial spirit and lived her life with confidence and without fear. This attitude stems from her faith in God and from her unrelenting devotion to studying the Bible, especially at the end of her journey and battle with breast cancer. Outside of family, her interests included cooking, music, traveling and investment analysis. Gladys was a remarkable cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She also continued to sing even well after her tracheotomy and radiation severely deteriorated her vocal chords. Within months after her cancer metastasized, she traveled to Europe to visit her beloved sister, for what she assumed would be their final time together.
She is survived by devoted husband, Dean; her children, Dimitri (16), Yianni (13) and Sophia (11); her siblings, Joy, JoJo and Jebil; her parents, Blas and Esther Justo; her grandmother, Elena Moreno Justo (a centenarian in August) and numerous members of her extended family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 4-7 PM and again on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 1:30-3:00 pm with funeral services beginning at 3 at ARN Funeral & Cremation Services, 11411 N. Michigan Road Zionsville, IN 46077. Friends may leave a message of condolence to the family by visiting www.arnmortuary.com
